Dr Martin J.T. Milton is the Director of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) since 2013. Prior to joining the BIPM, he was a fellow at the National Physical Laboratory (UK), where he was an international expert in chemical metrology. He is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York (UK), a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (UK), and a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Dr Milton is a member of the Editorial Boards of Metrologia and Kaye and Laby, a member of the Science Council of the European Measurement Research Programme (EMRP) and the Scientific Council of INRIM (Italy). He is Chairman of the Joint Committee of the RMOs, the BIPM (JCRB), and the Joint Committee for Guides on Metrology (JCGM).

Mr. Dixon has a degree in Electronic Engineering and more than 30 years of experience in legal metrology. He spent almost 20 years at the National Measurement Office (NMO) and held various positions, including Technical Services Director. He was also the Convener of WELMEC WG2 and played a crucial role in establishing the framework for the OIML Certification System (OIML-CS).

Mr. Dixon serves as the OIML-CS Executive Secretary and undertakes technical projects on behalf of the International Bureau of Legal Metrology (BIML). He is also the BIML liaison to several Regional Legal Metrology Organizations and international organizations. Frank Härtig graduated from the Technical University of Karlsruhe, Germany with a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in mechanical engineering. After that, he was employed as a development engineer in the field of coordinate measuring technology. This highly scientific work was the basis of his doctoral thesis, which he, in turn, completed at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. He subsequently worked for several leading companies in the field of coordinate measuring technology, specializing in geometrical metrology. Since 1999, Dr. Härtig has worked at the National Metrology Institute of Germany, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig. The main focus of his work there has been the development of the virtual coordinate measuring machine (VCMM), which is known as one of the first digital twins in the field of length-measuring technology. The VCMM has now been successfully used in the industry for over 25 years and has long been accepted by the German Accreditation Body. His work on the online validation of evaluation algorithms has been no less successful. This service can be used worldwide under the name of TraCIM. Between 2010 and 2012 he was awarded a guest professorship at the Beijing University of Technology. In 2014 he became the head of PTB’s Mechanics and Acoustics Division with more than 150 employees. In 2016 he was appointed as an honorary professor at the Harbin Technical University, China. During this time, he became a guest professor at Beijing University for a second period of two years. Parallel to that, one of his key activities lay in the global revision of the SI. One special focus was on the realization of the unit of mass based on the XRCD method and later centering on the development of the so-called Planck Balance. In May 2020, he became Vice President of PTB. Along with many other tasks within the Presidential Board, his scientific focus lies in the area of digitalization. He is involved in the definition and global development of metadata formats, the establishment of digital metrological twins, and the advancement of a digital quality infrastructure. Dr. Härtig maintains extensive contacts with industry and scientific institutions. He heads the Conformity Assessment Body of PTB and holds many other responsibilities, too. In 2021, he was elected as President of the International Metrology Confederation (IMEKO).

An inspirational orator, seasoned moderator and impactful leadership trainer, Tomas’ current efforts focus on re-inventing how innovation, sustainability and private sector engagement can advance the decarbonization and transition to green societies via evidence-based policies, climate finance, business opportunities, social impact. He holds a Master in international cooperation and political sciences, post-specialization degrees (University of Firenze, Manchester, Oslo) and was guest Researcher.

Mrs. Randa spent over 25 years working, succeeding, and learning in a space of diverse sectors in different countries, from architecture and business to TV Presenting and motivational training.

With a BS in Architectural Engineering, it did not take her long to realize that her true interest and passion lies at spreading knowledge and inspiring others to thrive and excel. This is when she began her long journey of self- development, continuously seeking new learning opportunities in the field of coaching and motivational training, that earned her several certifications and enriching opportunities.

Being a motivational trainer for more than 15 years, she has had the opportunity to work with numerous successful companies, universities, and governmental entities across the Middle East, strengthening the skills of employees and students to excel in the workplace.

Her career has afforded her the opportunity to work with and learn from people from a wide range of professional sectors, cultures, and geographies. In Canada, Jordan, and the Arab region, she has been helping employers build a better workforce in various sectors, equipping people with the skills needed to succeed in a highly competitive workforce. She has been helping companies maximize the performance of their employees as well as building the capacity of youth to enter the workforce ready, confident, and eager to work.

Maryam is a Standards Researcher at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, and has been active in addressing the environmental impact of development through standards and technical regulations. With a background in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability, Maryam’s experience extends across various sectors including chemistry, food and agriculture, renewable energy, and health, safety, and environment. Maryam is also extensively involved in the design, research, and analysis required to conduct regulatory impact assessment studies.
